Henrietta Lacks grew up during the era of Jim Crow. In those years, black people were not allowed to get into hospitals that were only for white people, even though they almost died. Henrietta Lacks was a poor, lower education black woman when she had cancer. She signed a form of operation permit without knowing what that means. Several years after she died, her family mentioned her cells were important to medicine. However, her family still could not afford their insurance. In my opinion, her children deserve health insurance because they had a great mother. First of all, no matter how successful Hela cells are, without Henrietta Lacks, researchers could not get any information from Hela cells which were the first unique, immortal cell. Researchers and businessman got all the honor and money from Henrietta Lacks’ cells. However, they did not mention who Henrietta Lacks was or where the cells came from. Henrietta Lacks did not know researchers would take her cells while she had surgery. In addition, researchers should have an agreement with her family when they studied her cells. Nowadays, many people know Hela cells come from a black woman named Henrietta Lacks. Her name should be remembered. Her family has a proprietary right to take back Hela cells. At last, her cells are important to the whole world, no matter their government or their hospital become famous because of Henrietta Lacks' cells. They should treat her family as Hela cells, at least her family should be able to afford their medicine.
